Packing and moving...

As the rogue purple underpants of time begin their assault on the whites-only wash cycle of destiny, and the twin buttocks of fate are sucked into the malfunctioning chemical toilet of eternity it is with pleasure you find things that you thought had been lost forever.

Why are you in business?

Last weekend and during this week I have contacted several companies regarding software farm mapping systems that link into a GPS unit and I have also contacted a number of motorcycle dealers regarding a Honda Bushland Ag bike.

To date I have not had a single response!  Some of these companies ask you to contact them via their web site and some make it virtually impossible to find a phone number.

Some of the companies I actually rang told me a salesperson wasn't available so I left my details and was promised a call back...

Couldn't run a bath...

The Captain and I went to see John Williamson last night at the Dural Country Club.  After living in the area for over 20 years it was the first time we had been to DCC for a concert.  It will probably be our last too...

The concert was terrific, the organisation was not.  Bearing in mind we have 3 clubs in the area, all vying for trade from a relatively small local population it was a classic case of how not to run an evening of entertainment.  This is also the same establishment that recently sent out an email to members asking for financial donations to tide the club over.

The tickets said 8pm start.  When we arrived at the club just before 7.30pm there was a long line of people waiting outside the auditorium.  We were debating whether to order dinner from the bistro but decided we had left our dash too late.  We needn't have worried, we could have ordered and sat and had a leisurely dinner...

At around 8.15pm the doors finally opened but the queue of concert-goers didn't seem to dissipate.

At 8.40pm we joined the queue and only then did it become obvious why it was taking so long to convey everyone into the hall.  One staff member on the door was checking off each party against a hand written list of ticket holders.  The list was not in any order and names were just scribbled on about 5 pages of A4 paper!  It took the poor lass an eternity to find and check off people as they presented their tickets...  the couple in front of us weren't even on the list, which presented a further problem as tables had been allocated to ticket holders.

An elderly couple on our table were part of a group of 16 but they had all been split up and allocated different tables!

JW sang his first song just before 9pm!

During the concert the stage lights went out and part of the PA system stopped working so we got sound from one half of the stage only.

The adjacent table to us was made up of 6 middle aged men, who were obviously JW fans as they knew many of the words to his songs but they hammered the whiskys all night and even tho' they were in good humour were clearly heavily intoxicated.  What happened to Responsible Service Of Alcohol or doesn't it apply at DCC?
