Preparing the paddock

Although it's going to be close to 40 degrees today we have to 'zero' the rows the plants are going in. The paddock was slashed last week so with a string line and sprayer we are going to spray lines 2.5m apart and wait one week.

Next step is to get a tractor in and rip a line where we have 'zero-ed', then we can plant our little babies.

Christmas Trees For Real

Here is a sample of our next venture - radiata pinus

400 of the little suckers going in next week.

400 next year and so on until we have 1600 planted

Dust Storm - 23rd Sept. 2009

This was taken about 6.30am last Wednesday morning. The dust in the air had been blown 1,500kms across the mainland from South Australia. I didn't enhance the photo - it wasn't necessary!

MODE estate agents

Well, I have resisted the temptation to jump straight back into the property market but have found two people who share the same moral and ethical standards as me hence MODE estate agents. A renewed vigour and bounce has appeared in my step!

Give 'em the old razzle, dazzle...

CHICAGO!

hard to believe I played the part of Mary Sunshine 25 years ago! Funny how I was able to almost quote the lines verbatim, after all these years...

What a fantastic production and immensely enjoyable. Great show. Get to see if you can - somewhere in the world.

Stink Boats

The following weekend was even better for weather - this is the middle of winter and we are wearing t-shirts and shorts; 23 degrees c!

The annual 'stink boat' gala was on at Forster Keys. M, K and I went over and spent a rather pleasant if noisy day watching the boats complete their timed laps around two buoys.

Christmas in July

What a weekend. Sun was shining, company was great. We went out to Bennets Head point to whale watch but didn't see any - may be too early in the season. Jamo and JJ went out on the tinny to catch some lunch and failed!

Saturday night was a feast to remember. JJ and I prepared:
  • Sea Breeze cocktails - vodka, champagne, cranberry & grapefruit juice;
  • vol au vents stuffed with gravalax (marinated fresh salmon), dried cranberries, crushed pistachios,bacon and herbs;
  • turkey breast wrapped in proscuitto;
  • individual, creamy potato bakes;
  • steamed asparagus spears with lemon and saffron butter;
  • a whole baked ham with marmalade and clove glaze and all finished off with
  • fresh fruit charlottes with amaretto ice cream

WOW!

They [Simon and Carbuncle] were fantastic :-l

I am/was amazed. They sounded just like their records (remember them?) with some funk and rock thrown in for good measure. Truly outstanding.

Brigadoon is Bundanoon

Great day out for everyone. Weather was perfect, not too hot and not too cold. Few beers in the arvo. Jim Holgate - you are a superstar! Thanks.

Jellyfish

Here was one of thousands of reasons not to fall in!  This mother was about 2 feet in diameter and formed a carpet-like layer, along with the other jellyfish, across part of the lake we were skiing on.
